Following the inspiration from her real-life childhood, Laura Chinn produces and stars in this new must-watch comedy series from Pop TV. Florida Girls follows the relationship dynamics between four friends as they struggle to adapt to their suddenly stagnant lives when their best friend moves away to follow her dreams.
Florida Girls’ cast includes Laura Chinn (The Mick) as Shelby, Melanie Field (Heathers) as Kaitlin, Laci Mosley (The Wedding Year) as Jayla and Patty Guggenheim (Splitting Up Together) as Erica. Taking a bold and brash view into their lives and relationships with each other, the series highlights each character as they struggle with getting by in life and finding their own identities. This too-real look into the lives of each character will have you self-reflecting about your own group of friends, with lots of “oh-I’ve-been-there-too” moments!
This female-dominated cast brings the laughs and creates a ton of smh-worthy moments, especially when it comes to portraying the struggles of life below the poverty line on Florida’s west coast.
“Florida Girls is a show I wrote based on growing up in Florida.” says Chinn. “My memory of Florida is like how do we kill a couple of hours and in that endless wandering you end up having the most amazing adventures.”
Given all of the OMG-worthy headlines that come out of Florida, Chinn certainly had lots to draw her inspiration from. “Read the news man” quips Chinn. “Florida is super unique”.
We couldn’t agree more. Which is why this bold, in-your-face, 10-episode series is sure to be your new must-watch obsession of the summer.
